This is a work by Sander Rood from 2004. He has always been engaged in awakening humanity through his art objects, aiming to confuse people and provoke thought about issues such as pollution and the degradation of nature. Everything in his work revolves around sustainability and being mindful of Mother Earth. Here, he stands in place of the just-cut tree, wearing a German military helmet welded with tubes in which branches are placed. "Plaatsvervangende schaamte" (vicarious shame) was the original title.
